Yesterday, I followed my friend Andrew and a companion up 950M to the top of, around, and down Mount Laurie (Yamnuska). It entailed edging along a rocky ledge hanging onto a chain, and scurrying down steep sliding scree slopes.
I am quite astonished by this feat, and the resulting photo. Is that me in this picture? I can’t quite believe it.
The experience has given me pause for reflection. How often do our mental limits get in the way of accomplishments? I could state quite categorically just two days ago that such a hike would not bring me pleasure and that physically it might be beyond me. And yet not only did I do it, but I am thrilled and excited by it. And I can walk today unaided.
So I vow to continue pushing myself outside my comfort zone.
